Hakeem – Patient Portal Application
Thank you for using Hakeem, the patient portal application operated by Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS)("QRCS", "we", "our", or "us").
QRCS is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the confidentiality and security of your personal and health-related information.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Hakeem App, whether accessed through iOS, Android, or any other supported platform.
1. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Hakeem App and governs the processing of personal and health-related data collected through the app in connection with the services provided by QRCS.
The Hakeem App is intended exclusively for individuals aged eighteen (18) years or older.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information Collected Through Authentication (NAS)
When you sign in to the Hakeem App using the National Authentication System (NAS), we may receive and process limited identity information necessary to:
- Verify your identity
- Link your account to your QRCS medical records
- Provide authorized access to app services
This information is provided through a government-operated system and is used solely for authentication and service delivery purposes.
2.2 Personal and Health Information
When you use the Hakeem App, we may collect and process personal and health-related information, including but not limited to:
- Appointment details and requests
- Health records (such as vitals, lab results, radiology results, medications, procedures, immunizations, and allergies)
- Health reports (such as sick leave or attendance certificates and downloadable results)
- Feedback, survey responses, and support inquiries
This information is made available to you through secure systems for your reference and convenience.
2.3 Technical and Usage Information
When you use the Hakeem App, certain technical information may be collected automatically, including:
- Device type and operating system
- Application version
- IP address (where applicable)
- Log data related to app usage, performance, and errors
This information is used to maintain security, monitor performance, and improve app reliability.
2.4 Profile Photo (Camera Access)
- The Hakeem App may collect a photograph captured using your device camera for the purpose of displaying your profile photo within the app.
- The app does not access or upload photos from your device photo library.
- The photo is used solely for identification and profile-related functions within QRCS systems.
- Profile photos are stored securely and are not shared with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
2.5 Location Information
With your permission, the Hakeem App may collect limited location data to verify whether you are physically present at a QRCS health center.
Location data is used only to:
- Enable location-based services
- Verify eligibility for in-center features such as displaying or pushing a Qmatic queue number during consultations
QRCS does not track your location continuously and does not use location data for analytics, advertising, or behavioral profiling.
2.6 Notifications and Communication
The Hakeem App uses push notifications to communicate important service-related information, including:
- Appointment reminders
- Medication refill updates
- Test result availability
- Medication approval and readiness notifications
Notification data is used solely to deliver app-related communications and is not shared with third parties.
3. Cookies, Tracking, and Analytics
The Hakeem App may use limited tracking technologies such as device identifiers or in-app analytics tools to:
- Ensure secure login sessions
- Monitor system performance
- Improve user experience
QRCS does not use tracking technologies for third-party advertising, profiling, or behavioral marketing.
4. How We Use Your Information
QRCS uses the collected information for the following purposes:
- To provide and operate the Hakeem App services
- To display your health-related information securely
- To process appointment requests and health reports
- To respond to inquiries, feedback, and support requests
- To improve system performance, usability, and reliability
- To comply with legal, regulatory, and healthcare obligations
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or health data.
5. Health and Medical Data Use
- Health-related data is processed strictly for healthcare service delivery and patient access purposes.
- The Hakeem App does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
- Any health education content is provided for general informational purposes only.
QRCS may analyze anonymized or aggregated data for internal reporting, quality improvement, and service enhancement purposes, without identifying individual users.
6. Data Storage and Security
- User data is stored on secure systems located within the State of Qatar. In limited circumstances, data may be processed by approved service providers operating under strict contractual obligations and in compliance with Qatar data protection requirements
- QRCS implements appropriate administrative, technical, and organizational security measures to protect data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
- Access to personal and health data is restricted to authorized personnel only.
7. Data Retention
QRCS retains personal and health data in accordance with Qatar healthcare regulations:
- Provide services through the Hakeem App
- Medical records are retained for a minimum of ten (10) years from the date of last treatment.
- Non-medical data such as app usage logs and technical information are retained for up to one (1) year
Upon account deletion, app-specific data (profile photos, preferences) is removed, while medical records are retained as required by Qatar law
8. User Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access your information through the Hakeem App
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your Hakeem App account. Upon deletion, your app profile, preferences, and profile photo will be permanently removed. Medical records and health data will be retained as required by Qatar healthcare laws and cannot be deleted upon user request

10. Third-Party Services
The Hakeem App may contain links to the official QRCS website or government services. QRCS is not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites or services not operated by QRCS.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
QRCS may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be published within the Hakeem App and reflected by an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
